Overview of the Collaboration within PhD Program Between Shanghai University of Engineering Science, P.R.China And University of Ulsan, South Korea

I. School Profile

Established in 1970 and still energetic, the University of Ulsan is among the top higher education institutions in Korea and in  Asia. The University of  Ulsan is prominent on the lists of the world’s top universities by such renowned survey institutions as QS, THE, and CWUR.  We rank within the top 10 Korean universities in medicine and life science, and within the top 20 in biology, chemistry, and material science. Just think of us as one of the top private universities throughout Korea. Our remarkable achievement has come as the result of our vigorous efforts to focus on practical education and research, built upon the foundation blocks of courage and adventure that encapsulate  Korea’s brilliant success today.

II. Contents and Methods for Collaboration

Both parties agree to form a collaboration based on University of Ulsan Graduate School of Chemical Engineering.

  The collaboration within PhD program includes a co-advisors system.

Specific plans and programs for the collaboration will be determined by both parties through further negotiation. 

Ph.D. degree from the University of Ulsanis awarded to those who complete credits according to University of Ulsanacademic regulations and related regulations and pass the University of Ulsandegree examination.

III. Admission Requirements

• Language  Requirements: Graduate students participating in this program must have the ability to interact with daily life and academic exchange in English (or Korean), and must have an English CET level 6 425 or higher or equivalent in English. (IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEIC 550 or higher, TOEFL iBT 78 or higher).

• Academic Requirements

Scientific Research: Graduate students participating in this program must have at least one academic paper accepted by SCIE (Science Citation Indexed Expanded) Journal prior to admission.


IV.   Related Costs

• The University of Ulsan fully supports graduate students participating in this program with tuition fees and living-cost when students pursue their doctoral degrees in Korea. The University of Ulsan also grants a tuition waiver when students study in China.

All travel expenses should be covered by the traveling part.

 

Not included:

 Books fee, Accommodation (the University of Ulsan will provide support in finding accommodation)

Insurance, personal health, and casualty insurance are mandatory.

V.   Application target:

Third-year graduate students
